Operation Soundtrack is a recording project that started as a Cake cover band in 2017. Roberto Chavez and myself would play once a week with a few different drummers. After a few weeks of playing Cake, we found ourselves writing our own music. A few songs turned into an EP, which is now growing into a full-length concept album.
The Cake cover band was called “Pi” (get it) and that idea evolved into writing only writing songs that are 3 minutes and 14 seconds. This is much harder than you think.
The Friday Matinee conceptual EP based on characters and events surrounding the assassination of the 35th president of the United States of America, in the time of 3.14. This is only the first side of our upcoming album. The second side of the album will be a conceptual EP based on another major historical US event.
